360° Feedback Review Programsread more

360° Feedback is a behavioural assessment process, with feedback gathered on the performance and development of an individual (or team) from several levels of observation (typically superior, peers, subordinates, internal clients, etc). 360° Feedback presents a more objective description of the performance than feedback from any one level alone. It is typically used for feedback on staff at the management level in order to provide a framework for a meaningful and grounded management development program.

360° processes are an excellent source of information for the feedback & coaching that can follow, and are often seen by staff as having strong validity and reliability because the feedback comes from all areas and levels related to the role.

The MLQ

The theoretical base for the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) is the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM).

MLQ assessments are available at the individual, team and organisational levels. While the individual MLQ is linked purely to an individual’s leadership style and impact, the team and organisational assessments reflect on the culture of leadership within an organisation at these levels.

Outcomes of leadership for individuals using the FRLM/MLQ include:

Extra Effort - Staff:

  • Do more than they expected to do
  • Have a heightened desire to succeed
  • Are more willing to try hard

Effectiveness – Leaders are more effective in:

  • Meeting others’ job-related needs
  • Representing their group to higher authority
  • Meeting organisational requirements

  • Use methods of leadership that are satisfying
  • Work with others in a satisfactory way

MLQ Report Options:

An individual leader/manager’s Personal MLQ 360° Assessment is a short but comprehensive survey of 45 items (usually completed online) which measures a full range of leadership styles.

The Personal MLQ 360° Report provides the basis for individual review and goal setting, and the compilation of the individual personalised Leadership Development Plan.

Other MLQ Options

The MLQ Self Rating Report (MLQs) is a useful alternative report to introduce the Full Range Leadership Model, and can be followed later with a full MLQ 360° assessment. A leader is asked (internet-platform) to estimate how others might see their behaviours on the key criteria of the FRLM. The self-rating report is designed to be easy to complete and easy to interpret for leaders and managers of all organisational levels.

The MLQ Team Report highlights the internal behaviours exhibited by team members related to the FRLM, and is valuable for benchmarking pre-post team training, particularly where the 360° MLQ is already in use in the organisation.

The Organisational Culture (ODQ) measures two higher-order constructs of the Full Range Leadership Model – Transformational and Transactional, and assesses the style and coherence of leadership culture at the organisational level.

The Leadership Development Report (LDR)

The LDR is a comprehensive developmental report that provides practical management and leadership advice. The report translates technical, psychological and personality language into business oriented language, and gives an understanding of how an individual's personality affects his/her management style.

The Leadership Skills Profile

The Leadership Skills Profile is a unique, customisable assessment that analyses the strengths and development opportunities of managerial and executive candidates on 42 critical leadership dimensions. The information contained in the LSP can significantly affect an organisation’s prospects for success, failure, or mediocrity. The LSP predicts leadership performance on 42 dimensions, categorised under the headings of:

  • Cognitive Managerial Skills
  • Interpersonal Managerial Skills
  • Personal Managerial Qualities
  • Teamwork, Supervision, Planning & Productivity

A range of reports predicts performance on 42 leadership dimensions and explains, in detail, how the respondent’s personality will affect his or her leadership effectiveness, highlighting any “red flags” for further follow-up.
